The theme was loosely based on and captured exactly the atmosphere on the streets of Cairo, after one day Peter witnessed an attack by Islamic militants close to the American University near his home in Garden City in 1993. Sadly this scene is still relevant today and not only in Egypt but all over the middle east...
Needless to say the painting was never exhibited in Cairo for obvious reasons.
